Landscape painter : he specialised in winter landscapes and in Italianate river landscapes.
Pupil of the landscape painter Johann Alexander Thiele (as were Johann Gottlieb Schön and Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich). Our painter was also strongly influenced by Dutch landscape painters, such as Jan Griffier (Amsterdam circa 1650 – 1718 London).
Vollerdt, although born in Leipzig, moved to Dresden in 1738.
He was probably active in Holland around 1750.
There are over 200 paintings known by Vollerdt. One can find examples of his art in museums in Saint Petersburg, Dresden, Leipzig, Schwerin, Koblenz and Bordeaux.
